VOICE REHAB AND SINGING LESSONS

Vocal coaching will rehabilitate the client into healthy, sustainable voice-use, solving the underlying problem and preventing further issues. I can also help people find their voices after periods of voice-loss or voicelessness, and work with clients whose voices are changing due to menopause or ageing.

TREATMENT

I specialise in the treatment of Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD); a diagnosis in absence of pathologies. Where someone is having vocal issues but a medical scope shows no physical pathology, MTD is diagnosed, which is itself often leads to maladaptions (further, compensatory issues).

MORE INFO

In addition to vocal coaching, I advise and re-educate on all factors surrounding vocal health, taking into account work, home-life, life-style, mental and physical health, diet, travel expectations and more, including creating a voicing budget and exercise routines.

I work across all sung (including throat singing!) and speaking environments and with all age-groups. Your voice is unique and your coaching is personal to you. Often, clients come to me having finished the allocated six NHS SLT-led sessions but needing further care, or for expert singing/performance help. Most of my rehabilitation clients are professional singers/actors but I also see many school teachers, and visit schools to give talks on maintaining vocal health.

I also have an extensive client list who come for regular singing lessons, including child competitive dancers, folk singers, actors, West End singers, singer-dancers and opera singers. I work primarily with professional singers but also enjoy teaching amateurs who want to improve their choral singing or perfect their amateur dramatics role. I am equally well-versed in classical, musical theatre and CCM (contemporary commercial music) techniques and spend most of my time saying, “singing is about making funny noises” and pointing to my sign which reads, “sing like no one is listening”!
